CAMBRIDGE, MA, UNITED STATES — Metalmark, a leading innovator in air filtration technology, is proud to announce the shipment of its product, the Tatama®TM Air Cleaner, to its customer, the Chariho Regional School District. The Tatama® system, the world’s first self-renewing air cleaner, is designed for commercial buildings to remove harmful airborne particulates, pathogens*, and smoke. Its key innovation was named a winner of the US EPA’s Cleaner Indoor Air During Wildfires Challenge.

“We are thrilled that the Chariho Regional School District has chosen our Tatama® Air Cleaner systems for their schools. The impact of better indoor air quality on students’ health, well-being, and academic performance cannot be overstated,” said Sissi Liu, co-founder and CEO of Metalmark. “Our innovative self-renewing filtration technology helps by effectively removing harmful airborne pollutants. We are proud to partner with a forward-thinking Green Ribbon School District like Chariho to protect the air that students and educators breathe each day.”

Metalmark previously worked with the Chariho Regional School District to pilot and test a version of its prototypical air cleaner. The district was pleased with the results and has expressed enthusiasm for the positive impact the new installations will have on the learning environment based on prior experience.

“We’ve been working hard to improve air quality in our schools, and we believe we’ve found a strong solution with Metalmark’s air cleaners. Schools are known for the challenge of managing air quality, especially with so many people in close contact throughout the day. Metalmark’s systems make a real difference in classrooms by providing cleaner, healthier air and creating an environment supporting better learning,” said Chariho School Superintendent Gina Picard.

The need for better air quality in schools has never been more critical. With students and staff spending a significant portion of their day indoors, it is essential to ensure that the air they breathe is better protected from harmful particulates, viruses, bacteria, and mold. Metalmark’s Tatama® system addresses this challenge with HEPA-grade filters to capture 99.97+% of particulate matter, including wildfire smoke, without emitting harmful byproducts during air cleaning.

At the heart of Tatama®’s groundbreaking innovation is its patented self-renewing technology, which gives rise to long-term efficiency and low maintenance. Approximately once a month, the system automatically cleans its filter, enabling up to 5 years of filter useful life. This self-renewal feature results in a lower total cost of ownership, minimal maintenance requirements, and reduced landfill waste generation, all while delivering cleaner indoor air, which studies show provides numerous health and economic benefits.

Metalmark’s Tatama® system has been extensively third-party tested with impressive results:

Mircroorganism tests were tested using MS-2 bacteriophage, Staphylococcus aureus, and Aspergillus niger

“One of the greatest benefits is that teachers and students don’t experience distraction from these systems—they’re designed to work seamlessly in the background. Plus, with minimal maintenance required, these air cleaners offer a lasting and efficient solution for our schools. We’re excited about the positive impact they’re already making in our learning spaces,” adds Picard.

Metalmark is committed to improving indoor air quality in schools, medical facilities, and other settings. The Tatama® systems are proudly assembled in the USA and are shipping per customer orders.
